A couple of weeks ago I celebrated a milestone birthday. If you couldn’t tell from the title…I turned 30 this year!
I was surprised with a trip to Savannah Georgia from by amazing boyfriend.
From the incredible food to the beautiful architecture, I’m super excited to share my experience.
First things first, we stayed at the Thompson Hotel which is a stunning boutique hotel owned by the Hyatt brand. The lobby, the bar, the rooms were all designed to a “T”.
We started our trip with drink at the bar located in the hotel’s lobby. The drinks were tasty and refreshing.
Then we visited the City Market where we walked and settled at a local bar called Treehouse.
Treehouse is a fun hole in the wall bar with cheap drinks and and music is going until 2 in the morning.
Day 2 was our beach day. We went down to Tybee Island and enjoyed lunch at Salt Island Fish & Beer Restaurant and .afterwards headed to the beach.
We spent the afternoon walking in the sand, flying a kite (my first time by the way), and relaxing by the water.
That evening we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We visited The Grey, an old Greyhound Station turned restaurant.
The ambiance and atmosphere were lovely.
Day 3 we went down to a small town called Pin Point. This town is a black town that was purchased by several freed slaves years ago. This charming town was known for their oyster and crab production.
We were given a tour of their museum grounds and learned about the Gullah/Geechee people and their beautiful culture. We couldn’t leave without stopping at the gift shop and picking up a few things.
Our next stop was Forsyth park. There were no shortage of activities from the basketball and tennis courts to the countless artists.
The park is filled with Savannah’s staple Spanish Moss and the Forsyth fountain is in the center of all of the fun.
We then needed something to eat so we headed over to The Wyld, a waterfront restaurant serving the best seafood!
We finished our last night on River Street. If I didn’t know any better I would have thought everyone was in town to celebrate my birthday with me!
If you know Savannah, every Saturday is like a party in downtown and we are all invited!
We walked down the cobbled streets with drinks in hand and headed back to Treehouse, the bar we started at on our first night.
We danced and drank all night long not making it back to the hotel room until 4 in the morning.
It is safe to say that I will definitely be going back to Savannah, I absolutely adored the town. The food was incredible, the beach is close by, and the people were friendly and inviting.
Savannah also provided it’s fair share of decorative inspiration.
The architecture and Spanish Moss that fill this city make you feel like you have entered into your own world despite being a few hours outside of Atlanta’s bustling streets.
Hope you all feel as inspired as I did.
