It’s finally summer…almost!

Technically, we have a few more weeks left in the Spring season. However, it is full on summer mode in Atlanta. School is out, Memorial Day just passed, and the weather sure thinks it’s summer already.

With that being said, it’s time to get our homes ready for barbeques, late nights, and fireworks!

Often times our outdoor spaces get forgotten and treated like an after thought.

Today, we’re talking about some of our favorite ways to address your patio, deck, or backyard.

  1. Furniture:
    • You will want to focus on outdoor rated furniture whether it be bistro chairs or an outdoor sectional. If you’re entertaining or enjoying a book on your own, people always need a place to sit.
    • When it comes to outdoor furniture there is no shortage of colors and patterns.

2. Landscaping:

The landscaping will vary depending on the size of your backyard.

For some this means pavers, brick, planting larger trees and for others a couple of potted plants will suffice.

No matter how big or small make sure your outdoor space is kept neat and trimmed if necessary. Trimmed greenery always give a more finished appearance.

3. Dining

Once the weather warms up I love to eat outdoors!

Yes, there are bugs and if you live in Atlanta like I do, it gets HOT!

However, there is something so relaxing about sitting outdoors with the wind blowing and music going while you enjoy a meal with family or friends.

When it comes to decorating your table for outdoor dining, you will want to include similar items as what you use in your home dining room.

I do encourage finding stylish heavy duty plastic items in case of wind or unforeseen whether changes.

P.S. There many natural remedies and contraptions for keeping bugs and mosquitos away while eating out doors.

4. Lighting

Lighting is not only an amazing tool inside of a home but can also be a great way to add an ambiance to your outdoor space.

I love adding spring lights, lanterns, or LED lamps to set the mood.

5. Set the Mood: Music and Entertainment

Speaking of setting the mood, make sure to include a speaker or some kind of sound system for your backyard or patio. The outdoors create there own magical sound effects but it is still fun to bring some music to help amplify the mood of the your space.

If you’re a TV watcher many people have TV’s on their deck for sporting evens or summer movie nights!

The mood is different for everyone so find what works best for you and get outside!

Stay Spirited!
